Tucker Carlson uses winter storm on East Coast to attack climate science: 'This is of course a religion' Crooks and Liars

Scientists who espouse evidence exists to demonstrate global climate change is a real occurance is "of course a religion" according to Fox News and Tucker Carlson. That way, if it is a religion, then they can deny it is the one true religion and a blasphemy to the Christian religion.

Here are two more truths to learn. One is science is not a religion and two Tucker Carlson is consistently wrong almost all the time.

BBC News - Haiti mobs lynch voodoo priests over cholera fears

A highly prominent voodoo leader, Max Beauvoir, told Reuters news agency police were not doing enough to stop the violence.

"Since the earthquake some people have been blaming us, saying that we cast spells and did evil things which brought the earthquake as a punishment," he said.

Yea, people like Pat Robertson. Ask me again why I question religious beliefs?

Sometimes it DOES take a Rocket Scientist!

Scientists at NASA built a gun specifically to launch standard 4 pound dead chickens at the windshields of airliners, military jets, and the space shuttle, all traveling at maximum velocity. The idea is to simulate the frequent incidents of collisions with airborne fowl to test the strength of the windshields.

British engineers heard about the gun and were eager to test it on the windshields of their new high speed trains. Arrangements were made, and a gun was sent to the British engineers. When the gun was fired, the engineers stood shocked as the chicken hurled out of the barrel, crashed into the shatterproof shield, smashed it to smithereens, blasted through the control console, snapped the engineer's back-rest in two, and embedded itself in the back wall of the cabin, like an arrow shot from a bow.

The horrified Brits sent NASA the disastrous results of the experiment, along with the designs of the windshield and begged the US scientists for suggestions.

(You're gonna love this... )

NASA responded with a one-line memo --

"Defrost the chicken." (True Story)

The Iraq Win/Loss Ration

We should all congratulate Halliburton and Shell Oil for their tremendous victory in Iraq. And please, let us not forget those courageous actions of Cheney, Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz for orchestrating this war. Now the profits can pouring into the coffers of:
  • ExxonMobil who signed an agreement to redevelop and expand an oil field in southern Iraq.
  • There’s a pile of oil money pouring into Iraq right now. Since last year, the Iraqi government has awarded 11 development deals to various consortia.
  • BP & China National Petroleum Corp. are developing the enormous Rumaila field, which has a total proven reserves of about 18 billion barrels.
  • Royal Dutch Shell (working with ExxonMobil on one project & Malaysia’s Petronas on another)
  • France’s Total SpA
  • Angola’s Sonangol
  • Italy’s Eni SpA
  • Russia’s Lukoil
  • China National Offshore Oil Corp.
  • The signature bonuses to be paid by the consortia are anywhere from $100 million to $500 million.
  • Halliburton won a deal to drill 15 wells in the Basra province in southern Iraq
And all this victory cost us is a mere One Hundred and Ten to One Hundred and Twenty Thousand dead and a Trillion Dollars. Some say cheap at any price and others say too damn expensive. But we get to keep driving SUVs and consuming 20 percent of the world's resources for only 5 percent of the world's population.

Human costs

■Total deaths: Between 110,663 and 119,380
■Coalition deaths: 4,712
■U.S. deaths: 4,394
■U.S. wounded: 31,768
■U.S. deaths as a percentage of coalition deaths: 93.25 percent
■Iraqi Security Force deaths: At least 9,451
■Total coalition and ISF deaths: At least 14,163
■Iraqi civilian deaths: Between 96,037 and 104,7542
■Non-Iraqi contractor deaths: At least 463
■Internally displaced persons: 2.6 million
■Refugees: 1.9 million

Financial costs

■Cost of Operation Iraqi Freedom: $748.2 billion
■Projected total cost of veterans’ health care and disability: $422 billion to $717 billion

And you know, there are still idiots out there who think the war was about religion and the terrorist attacked us because we're infidels or the Koran tells them to do it. And as long as the idiots and wingnuts continue harping on Islamic heretics, Shell Oil will be able to continue to get us to go to war to die for their profits.

Building a Nation of Know-Nothings - NYTimes.com

"It would be nice to dismiss the stupid things that Americans believe as harmless, the price of having such a large, messy democracy. Plenty of hate-filled partisans swore that Abraham Lincoln was a Catholic and Franklin Roosevelt was a Jew. So what if one-in-five believe the sun revolves around the earth, or aren’t sure from which country the United States gained its independence?" Timothy Egan.

You mean the sun doesn't revolve around the earth? Since when? It says it does in the bible, so it must be true, mustn't it? Just call me a Know-Nothing. And I'll call Christians "Flat Earthers".

Who Says Christian Right are the Only Christians

I mean besides the Christian Right that is. Obviously, they think of themselves as the only Christians in America or the world for that matter. In their minds, our flag is their flag and it is wrapped around Jesus on the Cross. The Alliance Defense Fund CEO Alan Sears says that court decisions upholding separation between the state and religions is "bogus" and "bizarre".

No, what is bogus and bizarre is White Fundamentalist Christian Supremacists thinking that only they are the good Christians who should be allowed to go to college and discriminate against the other students (CLS v Wu) because they are not sufficiently Christian, not of the same sexual orientation, or not a Christian at all.

In North Carolina, the White Fundamentalist Christian Supremacists want to uphold an unconstitutional religious requirement to bar Cecil Bothwell to the elected office of city council in Asheville because he "don't believe in supernatural beings of any stripe..." In North Carolina you can not deny the truth of the Protestantism. The law of North Carolina is not only one hundred percent WASPish but also unconstitutional.

The White Fundamentalist Christian Supremacists also want to the government to discriminate against other religions such as when they work to protect a cross in the middle of the Mohave desert and deny other religions the opportunity to mount their symbols next to the White Fundamentalist Christian Supremacists cross.

Other WFCS want Kentucky to fund indoctrination of children placed under the care of the WFCS. Louisiana is earmarking taxpayer funds to only those WFCS churches the government favors. WFCS teachers in the Santa Rosa County Public School District committed criminal contempt of court when they ignored orders and directed school-sponsored prayers take place.

With the debate on health insurance reform, WFCS are fighting against all citizens access to medical care because they are opposed to safe and accessible medical care for women, especially reproductive freedom.

Religious conflict leads to teacher's suspension - Wake County - NewsObserver.com

Religious conflict leads to teacher's suspension - Wake County - NewsObserver.com

Children can be so cruel. A science teacher in Wake County, North Carolina is suspended today because her little darlin's can not stand having a science teacher who teaches science instead of their favorite subject, fairy tales. You know like when they are supposed to be studying biology and how the different species evolved through the various times spans of earth's history. No, they claim she hates Jesus cause she won't teach that their idea of a mystical being just created everything and so they don't have to learn all that hard science stuff about life on our planet.

Afterall, who cares since the mystical being's zombie son will be returning to earth and end all existence once and for all and her little darlin's will be raptured to their mystical beings loving arms and she will be left behind. Once again, a teacher tries to provide learning and discipline to the little darlin's under her care and once again, she is the one who is suspended when they misbehave.

Yes our favorite Irish crazy Roman Catholic can't even stand it when someone stands with their arms outstretched. Catholic League president Bill Donohue had this to say about it: "Not only is the pose inappropriate, the timing is offensive: Lent begins next week."
Someone has to tell Bill to get a life.

Rev. Barry Lynn: Faith, Hope and Charity: Why President Obama's 'Faith-Based' Agenda Must Change

Rev. Barry Lynn: Faith, Hope and Charity: Why President Obama's 'Faith-Based' Agenda Must Change

One more example of how Secular Humanists are discriminated against in our society when our tax dollars are given over to entities that won't hire us and refuses to provide us with charity because we don't share their belief system. I believe we need to start asking more questions about the discriminatory role Christian Supremacists continue to play in our society.

Street Prophets: Air Force Academy Worship Area Desecrated

Fundamentalist Christian Supremacists defaming others beliefs once again and on federal land controlled by the US military. What was that First Amendment ban on establishment of religion? I bet it didn't envision actual military personnel defaming any religious group for not following the majority religious viewpoint. That of course includes terrorism against secularism as well.

Californian says Secularists believe in myths.

From North County Times in San Diego;

FORUM: Secular humanists build on myth, not accuracy

Time to get into this whole Secular nation versus Christian nation meme. Religious maintain that because the Puritans settled in Massachusetts and Catholics settled in Maryland and that the British colonists in the Southern colonies were mainly Church of England that it naturally follows that this is a Christian nation. This is not a Christian nation. It is a Secular nation composed mostly of Christians through out its history until now and that may be changing soon.

The Founding Fathers were mostly not Christians but Deists. They had to be in order to overthrow the British Crown. After all, Mad King George was the head of the Church of England and Washington, Hamilton, Jefferson, etc., over threw his monarchy in the New World. All of Europe was feudal. The first republican democracy in the world was the United States with no allegiance to any crown and therefore, no allegiance to any one God.

Remember, it was God, King, and Country every serf was forced at gun point to swear allegiance. Our Founding Fathers refused.

If you want to be a good American,
If you want to be a Patriotic American,
If you want to follow the American Idea,

Then you have to become a Deist or Secular Humanist, stop going to church, stop being a feudalist and become an American (someone who believes in freedom of thought, not blind allegiance.)

Last, but not least, remember that Secularists do not believe in myths. Christians do.

Imagine if some religious organization suffered the same indignity that Ben Zalisko received from the hands of the good Christians at the University of Chicago. {I really don't believe that the good Christians will ever be good.} Those Christians would be still be screaming PERSECUTION as loud as they could.

We need to do exactly the same. Start screaming PERSECUTION time some "good" Christian exhibits the need to defame a Secularist. Seek out your somewhat "good" Christian friends and ask them what they and their leaders plan to do about the persecution and defamation of Secularists, Freethinkers, Atheists, or what ever you call yourself.

But don't let them get away with it every again.

While Hemant is all right with the Dobson group spending their money on a worthless 30 second ad seen by an extremely large TV audience, I am still concerned about the hypocrisy of allowing this incendiary racist, misogynist and homophobic group to present themselves during the Super Bowl. Moveon.org was denied air time to present an anti-war, anti-torture ad. PETA was denied air time to present the value of vegetables. And yet, FOF is granted air time by the network to present their persistent crap.
